Golf legend Tiger Woods made a triumphant return to the sport on Thursday at the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. After a nearly two-year absence from professional golf due to injuries sustained in a car accident, Woods shot a 3-under-par 69 in the first round, putting him in a tie for second place with three other players.

Woods, who has won the Masters five times, started the round strong with birdies on the second and third holes. He then bogeyed the fourth but quickly recovered with birdies on the sixth and seventh holes. He played the back nine even par, with a birdie on the 15th hole and a bogey on the 17th.

The crowd was visibly excited to see Woods back in action, with fans cheering and applauding his every move. Woods himself appeared emotional after the round, saying that he was grateful to be back on the course and competing again.

Woods will continue his pursuit of a sixth Masters title on Friday, as he tees off in the second round at 1:42 p.m. EST.
