Raiders make a bold move, sign former Patriots star to multi-million dollar deal

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed former New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to a three-year, $33 million deal, according to a report on NFL.com.

Meyers had a breakout season in 2021, leading the Patriots in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. The 25-year-old played in all 17 games, catching 90 passes for 1,125 yards and four touchdowns.

The Raiders are hoping that Meyers can continue his strong play in their offense and help the team compete in the AFC West.

Meyers was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State in 2019 and spent his first two seasons with the Patriots before signing with the Raiders.

Meyers will likely compete for playing time with the likes of Henry Ruggs III, Bryan Edwards, and Hunter Renfrow.

Meyers' signing is part of the Raiders' efforts to upgrade their receiving corps and give quarterback Derek Carr more weapons to work with.

The Raiders finished the 2021 season with a record of 10-7 and made the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
